Florida Real Estate License FAQ

Between the DBPR application fee, the Pearson VUE exam fee, and fingerprinting, expect to budget roughly $150–$250 beyond your 63-hour pre-license course — fees have shifted in recent years, so it's worth confirming the current amounts on MyFloridaLicense.com before you apply.

After you submit your application, DBPR typically takes 10–30 days to approve it before Pearson VUE sends your exam authorization — so factor that review window into your timeline, not just the course itself.

No — you can complete your course, apply, get fingerprinted, and pass your exam first. Your license is issued but stays inactive until you affiliate with a licensed Florida broker.

75 out of 100 points. If you don't pass, you can retake the exam as many times as needed once you're able to book a new appointment.

As soon as you're ready to apply — Florida wants your Livescan results on file close to your application date, since they're only valid for a limited window. Waiting too long between fingerprinting and applying can mean redoing it.
