October might be one of my favorite months for real estate social media. Between fall colors, pumpkin patches, local events, Halloween, cozy homes, and cooler weather, there is almost an endless supply of things to talk about — without every post having to scream, “Hey, I sell houses!”
And after more than 20 years in real estate, I’ve also found that the work you do in the fall can have a much bigger impact on your business than you might realize.
The buyers and sellers who are still making moves toward the end of the year tend to be more serious. At the same time, the people quietly thinking about moving next spring are beginning to pay attention. Staying visible now can help you pick up those end-of-year clients and start building momentum for the new year.
And because I know the hardest part of social media is often figuring out what the heck to say, I’ve done that part for you! Here are 25 FREE October real estate social media posts you can copy, personalize, and post…

October Strategy Tip for Real Estate Agents
October is one of those months when I would not make every post about real estate. There’s simply too much great lifestyle and community content available to waste the opportunity.
Use the pumpkin patches. Talk about the coffee shops. Share the gorgeous neighborhood covered in fall leaves. Ask people about their Halloween decorations. Spotlight a local business. These posts help people get to know you as a person and reinforce that you actually know and participate in the community you serve.
Then sprinkle your real estate expertise throughout the month with market updates, homeowner reminders, seller advice, neighborhood knowledge, and the occasional client success story.
That balance keeps your content useful without making your social feed feel like one long advertisement.
5 Easy October Reel Ideas for Realtors
You don’t need an elaborate production setup for October Reels, either. In fact, some of the easiest seasonal videos can be filmed while you’re already out working.
1. “POV: You’re a Realtor in October”
Film a few quick clips of your coffee, driving through a pretty neighborhood, putting out an open house sign, walking into a showing, and ending the day at your laptop.
2. “3 Things Sellers Should Do Before the Holidays”
Talk directly to the camera or add text over simple clips of a home. Keep each tip short and practical.
3. “Come With Me on a Fall Showing”
Capture the front of the house, the entry, one or two beautiful interior features, and a great backyard or fireplace.
4. “Things Buyers Suddenly Notice in the Fall”
Think fireplaces, natural light, mudrooms, garages, covered outdoor spaces, mature trees, and cozy gathering spaces.
5. “The Scariest Things Realtors Hear”
Have some fun with Halloween: DIY electrical work, unpermitted additions, “the roof is probably fine,” or the ever-popular “we priced it based on what we need to get.” 👻
Easy October Instagram Story Prompts
Stories are perfect for the lighter October content that may not need an entire feed post. Keep these incredibly simple and use polls, question boxes, or sliders whenever you can.
- 🎃 Pumpkin spice or apple cider?
- 🔥 Fireplace or backyard fire pit?
- 🍁 Fall or summer?
- 👻 Tasteful Halloween decor or full haunted house?
- ☕ What’s your favorite local coffee shop?
- 🎃 Best pumpkin patch near [CITY]?
- 🍎 Apple pie or pumpkin pie?
- 🏡 Would you rather tour homes in October or May?
- 🍂 What’s your favorite fall tradition?
- 👻 Too early for Halloween decorations — yes or absolutely not?
Don’t Forget Your Local Content
One of the easiest ways to make your real estate social media content more useful — and more memorable — is to make it local.
Instead of posting another generic “Happy Fall!” graphic, show people what fall actually looks like where you live. Share the pumpkin patch everyone should visit. Photograph a beautiful tree-lined street. Make a list of Halloween events. Recommend the little coffee shop with the amazing maple latte. Highlight the neighborhood that goes completely overboard with Halloween decorations every year.
This type of content gives people a reason to follow you even when they aren’t currently buying or selling a house…. and that matters.
Because when someone eventually does need a real estate agent, you don’t want to be a stranger who suddenly appeared in their feed asking for their business. You want to be the familiar local expert they’ve been seeing all along.

Make These Posts Your Own
I’ve deliberately written these captions so they’re easy to customize. Wherever you see something like [CITY], [BUSINESS], [EVENT], or [LOCAL FARM], replace it with something specific to your community.
And don’t be afraid to change the wording.
If you’d never say “pumpkin everything” in real life, don’t suddenly say it on Instagram because I did. Add your personality, your opinions, your local knowledge, and your sense of humor.
Think of these as your starting point — not a script you have to follow perfectly.
The whole point is to make social media a little easier so you can stop staring at that blinking cursor wondering what to post and get back to selling real estate.
