Indiana doesn't use a "salesperson" title — like Illinois, the entry-level license here is called Broker. Here's where to go for each step.

Indiana Real Estate License FAQ

Yes. Indiana eliminated the salesperson category entirely — Broker is the entry-level license everyone starts with. The next level up, equivalent to a broker in other states, is called Managing Broker here.

Indiana is one of the more affordable states — plan on roughly $600–$800 total, covering the 90-hour pre-license course ($450–$650), a $60 application fee, a $55 exam fee, and about $38 for fingerprinting.

No — you can pass your exam and get your license issued first. It's issued in inactive status, though, and your sponsoring managing broker has to activate it through the state portal before you can legally practice.

Around 75% on both the national and Indiana-specific sections. The state portion has a noticeably lower pass rate than the national portion, so it's worth spending extra study time on Indiana-specific license law.

Most people finish in 2–4 months between the 90-hour course, exam scheduling, and application processing. Just keep in mind your passing exam score is only valid for one year, so don't let it sit too long before applying.
